Direct supply relationship
Jellyfish Energy
How Jellyfish Energy business contracts work for UK SMEs. Who they suit, contract mechanics, and how to compare the wider market.
Who Jellyfish Energy suits
Jellyfish supplies business customers and is frequently competitive on smaller commercial sites — the shops, salons, takeaways and single-unit businesses that the largest suppliers price generically. Because we hold a direct relationship rather than going through an aggregator, quotes are quicker and there is a shorter chain if something needs resolving.
Contract mechanics worth knowing
- Smaller suppliers can be more selective on credit than the large legacy suppliers. A site with limited trading history may be quoted more competitively elsewhere.
- Compare unit rate and standing charge together. On a small site the standing charge is a larger proportion of the total than owners expect.
- Confirm the contract start date against your existing supplier’s end date so you do not create a gap that drops you onto deemed rates.

Jellyfish Energy: frequently asked questions
Can I switch away from Jellyfish Energy before my contract ends?+
You can normally agree a new contract up to six months before your current one ends without paying an early termination charge, with the new supply starting on your existing end date. Leaving mid-term usually does trigger a charge. The date that matters is your contract end date, not your renewal letter date.
What happens if my Jellyfish Energy contract ends and I do nothing?+
You roll onto deemed or out-of-contract rates, which commonly run 33–45p per kWh for electricity against 23–30p on a negotiated fixed contract. It is the most expensive way to buy business energy and the single most common avoidable cost we see.
Does using a broker cost more than going to Jellyfish Energy direct?+
Our fee is commission paid by the supplier, built into the rate, and we are never paid by you. Suppliers frequently offer brokers rates that are not available directly, because brokers bring them volume — which is why a broker-sourced contract is often cheaper than the direct renewal offer, not more expensive.
